Context
The Foundation Legacy Gala is an annual formal dining event created by students in Assiniboine College’s culinary arts program, supporting Sustainable Food Systems Scholarships.
Having photographed the gala multiple years, the goal was to capture a complete visual story of the evening while aligning with key moments outlined by the event organizers.
Approach
The event was approached with an elegant, documentary-style lens, focused on telling the full story of the evening — from guest arrival through to dining, kitchen preparation, and final courses.
Priority was given to atmosphere, culinary detail, and guest experience, creating imagery that felt refined, editorial, and true to the energy of the event.
Process
As the sole photographer, coverage included arrivals, candid guest interactions, table scenes, kitchen and preparation moments, and environmental details throughout the venue.
Working from an initial shot list, coverage expanded into a full narrative of the evening, ensuring all key moments and transitions were documented cohesively.
Outcome
The final gallery delivers a polished, story-driven collection that captures both the sophistication of the gala and the craftsmanship behind the culinary program.
The imagery continues to support fundraising, event promotion, and ongoing marketing for Foundation Legacy Gala.
